typing + Internet + Hearing music/ Watching Movies and if possible 3d animation . I wish to know which model should I opt for? Dell Studio 15 or any DELL XPS Model coming to the closer range? What are the major differences between the two and how much it would help if i invest more to buy XPS? By the way I wish to know if I can do 3d animation in Studio 15 or XPS ? And what are the major pros and cons in these models?

Actually both are good...and you can do 3d animation on both if you opt for a graphics card that only depends on how much power you want and how much money you can spent.
btw dell xps will cost you way more than 60K so you are left with studio 15 which should cost you around or less than 50K.. and yes don't forget to tick on the keyboard backlit option its cool.

If you want to do 3D animation, buy a desktop. Even XPS doesn't suit well for 3D animation. For 45k budget, you would get one hell of a desktop that can easily run s/w's like Maya and 3DS Max.
Look for a laptop that comes with 9500GT or 9600GT. Better budget for 3D anim lappy is 45k.

same as desi said, but people do need laptop for roaming, get studio, it will give you good GPU options than XPS in 45K range and combo is real good.
Generally the differenece is same as always price which we can see and mostly stabilty and mobility thingy which we cannot differentiate generally between any high priced lappy and low priced lappy Last edited by acewin; 18-08-2008 at 11:11 AM. |

Thanks guys..I am not doing much 3d these days and I have a workstation for doing it.
But these days my job involves more typing and a bit of 3d. That is it. By the way adding a Graphics Card + 320 GB HDD + 4GB Ram etc took the price to almost 55k. Can anyone Suggest a good Combo for studio 15. Also heard XP drivers aren't available with Studio 15. Is that true since I prefer XP to Vista.? And are there any heating problems/ dvd drive problems in the machine?

^^^well if you ask me then its not the right time to buy the laptops particularly dell these are around 4-5K higher than the normal price due to slowdown of the US economy. Prices will come down by 4-5K in 2-3 months..thats my prediction
well if you have urgency then go ahead and buy one...and their service is good so they will sort out any problem you face be it xp or heating problems.
