Not able to restart with new motherboard

I recently purchased a new intel 865 motherboard which does not restart.
When pressed restart button directly or when I restart from windows it shuts the computer and gives a continuous long beep.


I am able to shut down the computer from windows without any problems.
I have to shut down the computer as I am not able to restart.
Pc configuration is p4 2.4ghz 512 mb ddr 1 ram esonic 865 motherboard.

Any suggestions?

check the motherboard's manual, and look for the reason why its beeping, and solve your problem......

if not then check the website for beep codes....

I have already checked for beep codes. There is information regarding normal beep code.
The computer works just fine. Only restarting problem.
We get such a long beep only when key board is absent. Tried changing keyboards also but in vain.

Long beep code is signal of BAD RAM

where did u get a intel 865 mobo now a days ? just curious last time i checked 3 months ago vendors told me intel has discontinued the 864 chipset

Already changed the ram and checked. Still does not work with other rams.
