I would rather get a Western Digital My Book Essential Edition 500 GB, USB 2.0(WDH1U5000) than a 750Gig old seagate 750gig for 4.9k.

Brand new one is available for some 4.5k.

I am pretty sure that it is not brand new.

Reason: Seagate Internal 750Gb sata2 HDD costs Rs. 5700/-

So, how can that person on ebay give external seagate HDD for 5k???

I bought 400 GB IDE Seagate for 2800 including taxes.

Besides I would say the above seagate model is a good buy in 4900, and yeah it is certainly old, because any new external 750 GB would cost more.
But still good if the person selling is not goofing or bluffing.
Selling can be for two reasons 1st Old stock or wanna sell as it is very old and would be giving problems. Why would anyone sell his external HDD like that.
