Exclamation Want help regarding AGP aparture size.

I recently purchased a Geforce 6600GT 512 MB video card from Zebronics. My bios shows AGP aparture sizes ranging from 32 MB to 256 MB. What size size should i set on my motherboard?

System spec:::
Motherboard----- ASUS A7V8X-MX SE
RAM------ 2 GB DDR
CPU------ AMD athlon XP 2600+ 1.91 GHz

And i have got another question.--- My processor temperature shoots upto 57 degrees under idle condition and upto 63 degrees under heavy load. Is this temperature range safe?

AGP Aperture memory is used when the onboard memory of your graphics card is not enough. It is rather like the pagefile in Windows. With 512MB on the gfx card itself, the size of aperture memory should not matter very much. 128MB is good enough.

57-63 degrees is still well within the safe limits although 57 deg is rather high for an idling temp. Do you have Cool n Quiet enabled? That is, is the fan running at low speed and speeds up only when it gets hot? Also, is the heatsink clean or is it choked with dust? Is the airflow obstructed by wires and cables?

Well.... My processor is not a 64 bit version, so cool n quite is not present here.

But i have a new query. I hope that my dealer has not taken me for a ride, but is a 512MB version of 6600GT really available???? I have googled for hours but i couldn't find a single review for 512 MB version of 6600GT. Some people say that the card cannot fully utilize even 256 MB ram fully...... But the card ROCKS!!!!

Yes, there are 512MB versions of the GF6600GT. There's more than one way to check how much video RAM you have. When you turn on your computer, the amount of video RAM is usually displayed first thing in the top right-hand corner of the screen.

You can also find out this way:
Right-click on the desktop, click Settings, click Advanced, click Adapter tab. The amount of memory will be displayed there.

Yes, i know for sure thing that this card has 512 MB VRAM. But is this chipset powerful enough to utilize the 512 MB effectively?
