Default Suggestions for Upgrade

Hello fellas...

I am going to upgrade my PC. I am thinking of getting the CoolerMaster 600 SMPS and Cooler Master RC330 Elite cabinet. Will this be enuff to provide a stable system for a 500 gb hdd, DVD drive, 2-3 HDD, and 8600GT in SLi??

Also please suggest a good mobo+procy combination. I want an SLi mobo which is also future proof. for the CPU, a budget procy with good overclocking features is preferrable as I will again buy a new procy after some time... Thanks

st of all quote your budget.
Get one 8800Gt or Ati 4850 . Cost is aound Rs. 10000-11000
They will perform much better than 8600Gt in Sli.

For sli Mobo opt for : MSI P7NSLI PLATINUM ( Rs. 8500 )
For non Sli mobo : MSI P45 Neo - F ( 6000-6500)

For proc Core 2 Duo 2.53Ghz E7200 ( 5.5-6K )

For cabinet opt for cooler Master 690 cost is around 4-4.5K.

SLI friendly cards are upwards from 9600gt, it doesn't make sense to sli two 8600gt's. So buy 4850 (if possible, it'd be abt 11k or 9.7 K acc to MetalHeadGautham),as it pwns 8800gt by a good margin.Haven't checked 8800 gt's price,if its still lingering at 10k;it sure would need a price change soon.

Ok here I'm clarifying my suggestions :

1. If you want sli buy MSI P7NSLI PLATINUM ( Rs. 8500 ) & 2 9600GSO
Look for palit 9600Gso 384MB edition . They should cost Rs. 6500 each
But it would be better buy one 8400gs as for now & when 8800Gt's price get down grab two 8800Gt and run them in sli.

2. If you Don't want Sli just get the MSI P45 Neo - F ( 6000-6500) & ATI 4850.
Note : You cannot use ati 4850 in sli config though.

Did u mean 8600 gt?
It'd be truly a waste of money to buy a 8400gs since u cant play any modern game(or even sm 2 yr old games) well at good resolution with this extremely weak card.If the prices seem high, either buy a single 9600gt/8800gt/4850 (4850 if there is not significant price diff) and then sli or crossfire (for crossfire, intel mobo's can be used, AFAIK x38,x48 chipset based mobos support crossfire) or just dont buy any card & wait for prices to tumble.....

^^No, I din't mean 8600GT. I told him to buy 8400GS coz it's available for Rs.2000.

Now say in november or december 8800GT prices come down Rs.2500. So in two cards he can save 5000-2000=3000

Two 9600gso will perform better any day than a single or even two 8600Gt.

You have suggested him to buy crossfire mobo's & ati cards which is a very good suggestion.

But he haven't mentioned his budget so It's pretty hard to find what he really wants.

dude's!! The GFX card debate is all good, but it's not a priority for me now! I need to get a procy+mobo combination first. I need a mobo which will be future proof, also performance must be good. The budget alloted for it may come around Rs.8000.

For the CPU, I am thinking of currently getting a simple dual core solution for 2000 or so bucks, overclockin the hell out of it and then after 2 or 3 months get a quad-core after the price drop . Any suggestions??

Your suggestion are very good & future proof but I think he also wants
a mobo with onboard graphics.
As that mobo has no onboard gfx buy a 8400GS for Rs. 2000

I already have a 8600GT card, so I don't prefer onboard graphics...

Many people have suggested that I should get ASUS P5Q. I guess I'll stick with that one...

@Ultra_Bloodshed: The P5Q is a good board. Go ahead with it. But just because you have 1 8600GT dont think of buying another so that you can SLi them. In case you can extend your budget, then get the 4850 for about 10k. It beats the 8800GTX Ultra and performance almost equal to GTX260.
Btw, your power supply should be enough for your rig.
