Default dual core query.please post your suggestions.

hi friends.

well i have mobo asus p5gl-mx which has cpu socket LGA 775 and i have intel p4 3.0 ghz with ht installed in it.well its two years old.

so my query is if in future i want to upgrade to a dual core.will i be able to install that dual core in the same mobo.or i have to change the entire mobo.as i have seen dual core also require LGA775 socket.

I suppose your mobo could run Pentium D. So if you get hold of a cheap sub 2K pentium D, and if your system is otherwise satisfactory, upgrade to it. But performance will still suck to Core2 architecture.
