Zebronics SATA plus 450w. Should cost less than Rs400. Get a good quality UPS - APC or Numberic, if you dont have one.

+1

Agre on the point of PSU, any default 450 watts should do, iBall / Zebronics value series at around Rs. 400

for UPS, yes APC 500 VA is Rs. 2100 where as any lower range local would do too, wich usually retails at around Rs. 1400/- + VAT

Thanks Aditya & Choto

Will 450 W suffice or should I go for 500 W? I already have a UPS.

^^^

Default 450watts cabinet PSU would do which retails at around Rs. 400/- hence no need to spend extra for your config

OK. Thanks

Any idea about specifications of the Zebronics 450 W SATA Plus? I mean the number of connectors? The Zebronics site doesn't mention anything.

Dont really bother, as there are extension connector available which can take 1 in put and give 2 out puts @ Rs. 7/- each so really dont bother, with your present config, look for cheap and warranty !! thats it

OK. Is my config this bad?

The thing is my existing Intex SMPS blew up (yeah it was a patakha) so I am kind of worried about SMPS. Don't want my PC to be burnt up 'coz of a bad SMPS.

Alright. Thanks Choto & Pathik

I'll try to get the Zebronics 450/500W SATA Plus. I seriously doubt it's availability here

BTW- Guys what can be the reason of the patakha in SMPS? I was just surfing the internet at that time and bang! There was no power fluctuation for sure & I just switched on the PC at that time

Its mostly power, I've had the blast too, twice for my current PC. It turned out to be because of overload in the E-lines in both the cases.

The first time it happened while playing an excessively crappy and unnecessarily heavy game though - Spiderman 3 for PC.

Errr, E-lines? Electric supply lines or is it something else?

I guess there was some burning smell from the the wires of the SMPS.

The big capacitors gets weaker with age and it gets weak faster in cheapo PSUs. Those capacitors cud burst when cracks appear on them on top.
But in normal cases it takes 3~4 years even for cheap PSUs to end up.

Zebronics 400WPSU is really good for its price. Ive run a system with more than twice power consumption [ 939 manchester core oc with 7600GT]. And it pulled it through with ease. Zeb 450W too is good with one extra sata connector.
