Default Need to recover data from a corrupt drive

Ok, this is going to sound stupid What happened was a friend wanted to get something off my HD, and he had this antiquated P3, 256 MB setup. I have a 80 GB HD. So when I connected my HD his computer hung, Ctrl+Alt+Del didn't work, and he disconnected the HD

When he did this, Windows gave an error message "Delayed write failure" and after that when I plugin my HD I get a error message saying "G:\ is not readable. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable".

So is there anyway to recover my data? I'm willing to spend time figuring out how to.

Thanks =)

besides what nish says. only readable area of HDD can be recovered. Area gone cuckoo, cannot be recovered. running the HDD as a secondary HDD with Linux OS is your best option. Besides it will work if it gets detected by XP as a secondary drive. without any recovery software also. and if you are using recovery S/W, do not plug your HDD before installing the software and and only after 2nd reboot.

Some recovery softwares may also clear your HDD if you just add before installing. That is why I say add your HDD only on 2nd reboot of the install of the S/W
