Default Processor for ASUS M2N-E

Hi all,

I had got a replacement ASUS A8N-E motherboard from Rashi peripherals for my faulty A8N-E last year. As it turned out, I ran into a problem with this one too. So, they gave me a ASUS M2N-E motherboard as a replacement. Since I have not found too many reviews on the internet, I have to depend on opinions. Has anyone used this motherboard? How good or bad is it? The other problem is that this board has an AM2 socket so I can't use my Socket 939 AMD 64 3000+, which processor would you suggest for this board? My only need is that it should be a stable, solid combination unlike my earlier one. I am willing to spend around 3 -3.5k for it. Also, since I have to get DDR2 RAM for this board, and considering the bad experiences I've had with local brands, I am looking for good branded RAM, preferably Transcend, Kingston or maybe Gskill. How much would it cost for 1 GB and if I am getting the 667 MHz ones, will it form a good stable combine with the rest?

Sorry for the long post. Thanks in advance for the help.

- Yogesh

Support AMD® Socket AM2 Athlon 64 X2 / Athlon 64 FX / Athlon 64 / Sempron

FYI, This mobo doesn't have onboard graphics.

you also have to change your RAM as this one needs DDR2 modules.

Athlon 64 X2 5200+ for Rs.4.7k
Kingston DDR2 800MHz for Rs.2.2k (two 1Gb modules)

Thanks for the replies. Just to compare, how much better is the Athlon X2 4800-M2N-E vs my previous Athlon 64 3000-A8N-E combo? After searching around for a bit, I find that people have reported problems with the M2N-E board initially in 2007, so I am not sure if that still holds.. what do you say?

Amd 4800 will be much faster than 3000

I think the problem reported were abt over clocking, wer this board wont take high performance rams having voltage above 1.9v and also some audio problem.but idont hav any problem with audio or rams becose i am using trancend rams which needs only 1.8v.
