I would say that you rather get the GA-M78SM-S2H. (with Nvidia 8200 IGP) It should be below 4k. The Zotac 8200 is about 3.4k.

I would go with 780G Radeon chipset, buy ATI HD4850 later and use it in hybrid crossfire mode and get most out of the box.

^^ @ desibond ,the Gigabyte website clearly says " * Please use ATI Hybrid CrossFireX certified VGA card (i.e., ATI Radeon HD 2400, 3400 series)."

So the board will not work in crossfire mode with the higher series of ATI cards. Many reviews confirm this.

Red face Re: GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-S2H - help needed

GA-MA78GM-S2H

AMD 780G Chipset
  1. Supports AMD Athlon/ Sempron processors
  2. Solid capacitors design in CPU VRM
  3. Dual Channel DDR2 1066 for remarkable system performance
  4. Integrated ATI Radeon HD3200-based graphics (DX10)
  5. Ultimate graphics performance with PCI-E 2.0 x16 interface with ATI Hybrid CrossFireX support
  6. Integrated SATA 3Gb/s with RAID function
  7. Features high speed Gigabit Ethernet and IEEE1394
  8. High quality 106dB SNR ALC889A HD audio
  9. Integrated HDMI/ DVI interface with HDCP
Supports almost all high end AMD Processors available in the market

The onboard Graphics(ATI Radeon HD3200) fetched 2000+ in 3DMARK 2006 benchmarking......
This is ideal for an average gamer...... A dedicated graphics could be plugged in and crossfired with the IGP for better performance, but lacks since support is only for Low-end ATi HD Cards

The onboard Sound is excellent (106dB SNR ALC889A HD audio) with
  1. Support for DTS (dts NEOC)
  2. Support for S/PDIF In/Out

More than that an eSATA port is available on this board....

Supports 16GBs of Memory to the maximum....

Solid Capacitors used on the board ensures better life for the board....

All these for a price tag under 5000/-

BUT SEVERAL REVIEWS OF THIS MOTHER BOARD SHOWS CONCERN OVER HEATING PROBLEMS ON THE INTEGRATED GRAPHICS SOLUTION...... Also it has been heard that gigabyte has rectified this in the newer version of this board rev1.1 to be right...adding additional cooling solution would be another option for that heating woes.......

OVERALL A Good FUTURE AND FEATURE rich board........
A GOOD BUY FOR THE PRICE

Comments and corrections are all welcome...... ahoy....

Had gone with a friend of mine to enquire about this board. But the dealer was keen on pointing out another board from MSI. MSI-K9A2VM-FD / FIH to be precise. So which one is better among these two? MSI-K9A2VM-FD / FIH or GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-S2H !!

Replies appreciated

Using GA-MA78GM-S2H (rev 1.0),pretty feature rich board when compared to K9A2VM-FD /FIH-S.Get rev 1.1 of the Gigabyte board.

What temps you're getting on idle and at load.
( also post the idle & load durations )

Congratulations mate on ur new purchase.I am from Kerala too,Alwaye,to be specific.May I know where ya from?.I wanna upgrade my PC.As the budget is a bit tight, have to rely on onboard graphics. My budget for a new Procy & Mobo is 11K,can't stretch beyond that.

I have got 2 options.1 being and AMD Athlon X2 6000+ with a Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H or an Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 with a pretty decent intel mobo below 5.5 k or thereabout.

When it comes procy i had take E7200 over X2 6000 anyday. But then won't get feature rich mobo like the GA-MA78GM-S2H at such a price. So i am in a dilemma which option do I choose?.

Help me out guys.I would really appreciate. And thanks in Advance
