Exclamation Thermal Paste


hey by mistake removed the thermal paste between the processor and the fan is it necessary for it to be there if yes whats the approx. cost of it............

thermal paste does help reduce procy temps by a fair margin.the cheapest thermal paste that u sud buy is CoolerMaster for bout 150-200 bucks.

Yes..thermal paste is important..even i removed it once...while cleaning out the heat sink unit. (Infact I cursed..the assembler at that time...saying..what the heck is this glue)...then I realized...my CPU was over heating..so I pasted CoolerMaster paste back on...!

If you have some high-end processor and you plan to do some OCing then go for a good Thermal paste. Otherwise buy some cheap thermal paste as suggested by pathik..

@pathik, do you get thermal paste for 10bucks?!

^^^ yup u can get thermal paste for 10 bucks.it comes in a small can and is white in color.

Have any of you guys tried that el-cheapo thermal paste with success ?
I think that cheap thing will work as a barrier between cpu heat sink heat dissipation. Also reduce the life span of th processor.

I would recommend paste like arctic silver.
