Default Sony DRU-840A speed and media issues

i have sony dru-840a dvd-rw. i tried using the media Sony DVD-R 16X. i tried a simulation at 16X using nero. what i found was it was taking way too much time arnd 50 mins of so.
Then to check the realtime speed i tried using the imgBurn software and again tried a simulation thru it. in that the average speed was around 1.4X.
and this was the case with any initital speed selection 8X,16X etc.
i havnt tried any other media yet. just wanted to know is it a drive issue or media problem. has anybody experienced this problem.
Also can someone suggest some good media that i could use with the drive without problems???

Thanx

you need to reset your DMA mode setting, I had actually tried this, as someone had made post of this giving link Click on Download in the link

it will give a vbs run this and you will find your issue resolved.

Besides this Nero 8 CleanTool, this is another of good util I fond from thinkdigit.

Follow this step and then rest DMA script, if just resetting DMA doen not helps.

Besides long time you may also need to folllow this step if it gives "No Seek" Error or "Disc at once" while working with Nero, while burning I see the system res utilization goes high so, let only burning go(I am also amazed of this because earlier I used to burn using nero and play side by side, except my burner is different than yours.
