Default will APC 500/650VA UPS suit my system?


Need to buy an UPS
My system config is:
amd X2 5600+
mobo: asus m2n-e sli
WD 250 gb sata 2 hdd
Lite-On dvd-rw 20X sata2
nvidia geforce 8600gt 256mb ddr3
powersafe 400w psu
i have an adsl modem, speakers n a 15 inch monitor
i intend to upgrade my monitor to 17/19 inch lcd sumtime in the future
i need to buy an ups....i've seen 2 models by apc...500va and 650 va
which one would be able to provide me abt atleast 5 mins of runtime after any power failure?

for the above config I'll suggest you to get a 650-800VA ups from brand like apc..

if u are planning to buy TFT/LCD monitor u should go for 800W (not VA) UPS

I 'de rather suggest Online UPS/Inverter. Dude it might cost u more but it will run every single appliance u need. U can run ur system for hours and many more.
If u still want to invest in UPS then 600VA atleast.

better to go for 800VA/1.5 = 530W (approx) if i m not wrong...
i made a mistake of buying a lower VA one and then have to upgrade to 800VA as power requirement rises...but actually since your powersupply is only 400W, 650VA or even 500VA will do for now, then you have to buy another one if you upgrade
in normal operation, the PC any way do not use full 400W

thanks for those replies....
if i'm running good on a 400W psu....then cd t mean that...i can easily suffice by having 400*1.5=600VA ups?(so the 650VA one looks pretty safe)
