Yep. 200$ is too much for the upgrade. They should give atleast a t8100 for that much. Go with the t5270 or 5470

Get T5550 1.8 Ghz...it wont be much costlier nd gives far better performance.

^^ vostro 1510 does not hav 8600GT it only gives a option of 8400GT.
hey pathik, wont 7200rpm HDD dissipate more heat... i think my laptop is gonna be a oven with 8600GT + 7200rpm... is T5270 cooler than T7250???

@ankushkool
not much diff in heat b/w a 5400 rpm one nd 7200 rpm. Just the vibration will be more, nd battery backup too ll be degraded a bit.
And HDD and the gcard are located on different locations on lappy and actually the heat generated by an M8600GT is way higher than a HDD. GPU temps cud shoot upto 90c.

U cant do nythin bout it. But u dun have to worry, coz it dun get unstable even at 90c, nd its just that u cant use the lappy on lap atleast while gamin. just turn on the fans in the room while gaming, and keep the rear end of lappy ventillated whils gamin.

If 90c is ok with the GPU, y shud we care? we just ve to make sure it dun rise evn high due to our mistakes like covering the back of lappy whikle on cushion, bed or somethin. Dell lappy's has gud quality copper heatpipes running thoughout the lappy nd it does its job well. U can go for 8600M GT safely.
BTW, i think Dell provides GDD3 for 8600GT only for XPS models. Just confirm that
