Exclamation Shot in the Arm for C2D E6300

My System Specs are as Follows. I bought this PC around about 2006 NOV

Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 @ 1.86GHZ
2 GB DDR2 RAM (2x512 MB + 1x1GB)
XFX GeForce 8600GT 256MB
Intel DP965LT Motherboard
Microsoft Windows Vista (6.0) Ultimate Edition / Windows XP SP3

I am thinking of Overclocking the CPU. I have read on the interweb that this processor is extremely capable of overclocking

READ - http://www.legitreviews.com/article/380/1/

So I believe I will nead a good heatsink? Am I right? Can you suggest me one (which is avail in India?) And also if I overclock, will I need to use a Water Cooling system (as done by the reviewers [in above link])? I also need a good branded PSU. Which one will be Ideal?

I am in confusion about my RAM. How can I know it's speed (eg- If it is 533MHZ/666MHZ etc)

I have (as mentiond above) 2 x 512MB and 1 x 1 GB RAM sticks. Will the Performance Improve If i take out the 2 x 512 and replace it with a single 1 GB?

Also, while overclocking, do we need to mod the motherboard?

Thank You!

if ur low on budget like 5-6k then go for the X650i series mobo from XFX.

but i suggest u better invest in the P35 chipset, buy a mobo from Asus based on this chipset and u will get 45nm cpu support, for futureproofing.

i dont think nvidia has released low end chipsets in the 7xx series.

if u have alooooot of money to use then go for the 790i series. it gives 3-way sli+DDR3 support+45nm support.

Yay! 400 posts in 4 years.....
