Laptop Screen Flickering...Help Needed

Hi All...i need some help...
Last month i bought an Acer Laptop...its Acer Aspire 4720...linux was the os in it..so i told the computer shop guy to load windows xp in it...he does...now the problem is that...the screen flickers at low brightness...the screen only luks gud at maximum brightness...i used to keep th brightness to minimum to save battery..but the screen is flickering at that setting...its a bit annoying...
i have installed all the drivers correctly...i got a resource dvd with my laptop..it contains all the drivers for windows xp and windows vista.....
i dont know whts the problem....???
my friend is havin the same laptop..but he is using windows vista...he is not having any problem....

my configuration is
core2duo 1.5,intel 965 graphics,160gb hdd,1gb ram

I think there is fault with battery. exchange the battery with your friends laptop and see.

instead of trying things out urself JUST RUN 2 ur nearest acer shop from where u purchased it ....

maybe you could fiddle with the refresh rate also n try your luck..

i tried changing the battery....no use...i cant change the refresh rate...its struk with 60 hz....
i'm stayin in a hostel....there r no computer shops nearby...so i hav to wait till my vacations....
the battery is not the problem...coz the screen doesnt flickers at maximum brightness....i reinstalled win xp and all the drivers...still no use...

or is there any other way to fix it?????
shal i install vista????
