Default power calibration error


hi all,

i just burned a dvd and then when i tried burning another IMMEDIATELY after,i got a power calibration error

since then i've tried several other dvds to no avail

any help??

also,i'm using vista so the "IMAPi service" doesnt appear in my services list!!

any other ideas??

Try burning at a lower speed, helped in my case.

i also face this problem sometimes with my LG cd writer, and once occurred it refuses to burn anymore.

Most prob it will be bcos of bad media. Try another DVD/another brand DVD. If u r getting this error with many brand DVDs, ur writer wud have gone bad.

but it still burns properly with the same brand media and sometimes it refuses ...

i think if im not wrong power calibration means the drive tried to burn a little bit of information on the disk before it actually started burning for watever reason..if it cant read what it has burn then it will return the error...i m afraid it is a failing writer...its dvd lens have weaken to a point where it could no longer muster enough fire power to burn a dvd..as a last resort you could try cleaning it with a DVD lens cleaner...yes CD lens i think are separate from DVD one .can it burn CD?

i have similar problem with Liteon DVDRW. Now a days Liteon sux.

looks like nowadays there are no good optical drives..im thinking of buying one but have bad experience with both sony and liteon and no samsung or lg for me...i lost belief in brands of these giants

Most common reason is bad media.. Make sure u arent using cheap quality media such as umax nd all... i wud suggest moserbaer.. or else you can also try burning at low speeds..

btw whch writer do u hav ?
