DVD Writer gone Kaput.... please help, its urgent!!!

I think there is a hardware related issue with my DVD writer (Liteon SOHW-1633S). I tried the following three DVD burning softwares but they all seem to have corrupted the media

I am using a Moser Baer Pro 4.7 Gb 16X blank DVD.
In all the following three softwares it have tried burning it at 4X


Nero -> Initial time shown is approx 13 min but after 3 min and 10% progress the computer hangs. Result is corrupt media

Cute CD/DVD Burner -> This software shows the amount of data written. It starts with 0.06 Mb / 4087 Mb and then gives and error that it failed to write.

Flash CD/DVD Burner -> This too shows the amount of data being written when the burn is in progress. Here too it stopped at 0.06 Mb / 4087 Mb and then gave the error.

In this way my 3 DVDs have been wasted.

But i am able to burn Moser Baer DVD-RW using any of these softwares.

Please assist me as to where the problem lies..

Also, if new DVD writer is the only option then please suggest one (preferably with model number) and also the price !!!

try changing the PATA cable , maybe its faulty

I think the issue has been resolved now.

What i did was:

1. Uninstalled Nero from the system
2. Downloaded the latest firmware for my drive
3. Did the firmware flash
4. Re-installed Nero and it worked.

Now i am able to burn the DVDs as before
