reinstalling XP should not affect modem setting.

are you trying to do BSNL setup first time or what.

in DNS server you need to put 192.168.1.1, because your modem will be your DNS server.
Other than these do you have your login password given by BSNL.

If there is really anything wrong with the modem(if you are not doing first time setup) then you can reset your modem to factory settings. Every router and modem has pin port.
But before this follow what girish says, and see in the page there would be option for restarting the router. I say this because I havent tried resetting my router to factory settings any time, no need to as its working fine.

If ur using home plans no need for IP address Bullshit. Instead in network settings option select "Obtain IP Address Automatically" and "Obtain DNS address automatically". And why the hell do you need to **** up with USB port can't U connect it using LAN port like normal guys do

why are you guiding in wrong way.

Both USB and LAN will have same default gateway..which is IP address of modem.

are you using any firewall.
Disable all firewall.

Open IE -->> Tools -->> Internet option -->> connections
1) delete all connection if there is any in the box.
2) select never dial a connection.
3) click LAN setting -->> uncheck all boxes -->> apply OK

save settings, and now try to open 192.168.1.1

SP2 is not a requirement for BB, but it will be nice if you can upgrade to SP2.

Thanks to all of you! After installing win XP sp2, my broadband connection is working very fine. Now I'm enjoying my high speed internet. Thanks for helping me and for your quick response.
Also I wants to inform you after installing modem software, I just make a new connection, enter user name and password and without any config & ip address it connected successfully.
