Default HDD problem

I purchased a Seagate SATA II 250GB drive on monday (7th apr 08 ).

It installed OS correctly (XP and Debian). But after sometime it refused to boot saying sytem.exe has gone corrupt and later showing no operating system. When I reinstalled OS it showed my both OS partitions as 100% free space (bot were formatted already).

I have installed XP now but when I try to run Seatools 1.1.0.14, it fails in both Short Drive Self Test, Long Drive Self Test and Long Generic Read Test.
However S.M.A.R.T test passes and so does short generic read.

Am cautious whether i will loose data too unexpectidly, can i get a replacement ? I mean not the Certified Repaired HDD replacement as i hav some bad experiences with repaired replaced drives (low performance, intermittent noise and sudden data loss).

Here is my config:
Intel DG965RY
E6300 1.86GHz C2D
! GB RAM Transcend 533MHz
2x160 GB seagate SATA2 1x250 GB seagate SATA2

My seagate 250GB details
Model no. ST3250310AS
Serial no. 9RY1WP1Q
Firmware: 3.AA
Made in Thailand

My BIOS config:
IDE legacy mode

Please Help me

Yes ,U WILL get replacement.(within 7 days)
According to Seagate ,if the drive fails in both Short Drive Self Test, Long Drive Self Test and Long Generic Read Test then it will be replaced without any fuss.
On replacement u will lose ur data.
I got Seagate one in Feb and have already replaced it 2 times.

the thing is that i dont wan't a Certified Repaired HDD as a replacement cuz these are generally repaired HDDs which can go bad at any time (I hav one which sounds like a hopeless data cache).

I am looking to get another brand new one.

Most of my friends who have bought SATA II HDD have problems.
Its not Seagate alone, even Samsung and Western Digital have their share of problems too. Guess I made the right decision of buying IDE 160 GB when I bought my HDD.
