Angry Scanner failure....

I own a 3 year old All-in-one HP Photosmart 2608.

One day, I was scanning one page to directly to my Memory Card (this doesn't involve the computer) and the scanner wasn't able to scan. It always does a warm-up(goes from Right to Left) and then returns and then starts scanning. But now it isn't returning to the starting position while warming up and makes a whoosh sound and gives an error message on the screen:
Quote:
Scanner failure.

Turn power off then on.
After I switch off the printer and start it again, the Scanner lid is able to return to the original position easily but still not able to scan afterwards when I give the command again. It isn't able to copy too.

But, it can scan if I give the command through the Computer (I think because it doesn't warm up when I give the command through my Computer).

Anyone know solution for it. I've already tried Power Cycling a lakh number of times but nothing seems to work.

I've also included a video of the problem. Notice the whoosh sound while returning. Plz have a look.......

Any help is appreciated. Thanx in advance.......
