Default Sony DVD writer troubles

I have a 2 year old DVD writer, Brand Sony. of late it has started to give trouble. Sometime it doesn't read and I clean it with cleaning disk and it run for a few days. Now days it refused to eject. After a lot of tries and tries only it ejects. otherwise it is reading and writing ok. One day I even got a calibration error. What is this error? Can I continue with this drive or go for a new one. Please suggest me your expert views. If I want to purchase which brand is the best?

^^ simple........u just hav to buy a SATA drive instead of an IDE drive, and u hav to connect it using a SATA cable to a SATA port on ur mobo, just like u used to connect IDE drives to IDE connectors on ur mobo.
