Dont go for this config, better go for -

Intel C2D E8400
Abit IP35 Pro
2GB DDR2 800 Transcend RAM
Nvidia 8800GT Graphics card
Corsair VX450W PSU
WD Caviar 500GB AAKS HDD

Stick to WinXp if you love peace of mind

If you are going to buy a GPU, it is better to get C2D due to it's better performance.

AMD proccy's are preferred for onboard graphics that come with boards designed for AMD.

Abit IP35 Pro doesnt support SLI but does support Crossfire.
8800GT has very good performance and costs ~ 13k

AMD used to be the best option some time ago, not anymore.C2D is much better now.

no. AMD's is lagging behing Intel in making backward compatible mobo's.

eg: Intel is using same socket for really long time but for AMD, they are changing socket everytime they release new core.

Believe me, AMD is in a real big slump now. Go for C2D. 100 times better future proof proccy.

IX38 Quad GT supports Crossfire.so u'll be able to connect 2 ATI cards in this mobo and not nVidia cards.
dont buy a 8600GT.get a 8800GT 512MB or if u wanna setup crossfire then buy either 3850 or 3870.

Its Abit IX38 QuadGT, its based on Intels top of the line X38 chipset.
I would go for E8400 over Q6600 as of now if gaming is the main criteria here.
Yes you can connect any graphics card that is PCI Express on this board.
Problem with SLI is that you have to buy a Nvidia chipset board and frankly speaking, as a chipset, X38 is much better than anything Nvidia has to offer right now.
Also Crossfire scales better compared to SLI. Its your call what to do
