Default 55k Configuration for New PC -Is this good ?

Hi TechGurus,

I am planning to assemble a new PC for me on my own, please help me with configuration, price and tips.

Please provide price and availibility in Chennai possibly with Dealer details.

Usage: Image editing (Photoshop.. ), Occasional Gaming, wathcing Movies
Budget: 55k

I did some research and came up with following options, please suggest if any changes to be made or the best combination that would suit by budget

Processor: Intel E8400
Mother Board: Not keen in OverClocking, SLI
Abit IP35Pro or IP35E -- are there compatibility issues with Intel E8400, will it work out of the box or BIOS update needed ?
or Gigabyte GA P35 DS3R
or Asus P5K Deluxe Wifi
RAM: Corsair 2*1GB(800MHz) - TWIN2X2048-6400 or Transcend DDR 2 2 GB 800 Mhz
Graphics Card:
Asus EN8600GT
or XFX GeForce 8600GT 256MB DDR3 DUAL -- are there any known overheating issues ??
orXFX GeForce 8600GT “Fatal1ty” Edition
HDD: Western Digital Caviar SE16 320GB 7200RPM 16MB (WD3200AAKS
SMPS: Cooler Master Extreme Power 600W Power Supply
Cabinet: Cooler Master Elite 330 Computer Case
DVD Writer
Samsung SH -S203 SATA DVD RW or Lite - On 20X With Light Scribe
Monitor: Samsung 19" - 920NW Wide Screen 9975 or ViewSonice 19"
Speaker: Altec Lansing ATP3 or Logitech M30 or Creative Inspire 2400
Keyboard Combo: Microsoft or Logitech

Will I need additional coolers for the above configuration, If I dont do Overclocking ?

Thanks in Advance

Default Re: Help on first attempt at assembling a new PC

You can use www.deltapage.com for checking current prices in Chennai.

With respect to your Processor, I suggest you got for Q6600, its a Quad Core Processor with a clock speed of 2.4 GHz.It costs about 11.5 K in Chennai.

Motherboard - Asus P5KC, ability to add DDR3 RAM for future
Specs :http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?mo...11&l3=534&l4=0

HDD - Go for Seagate, as WD HDDs are more prone to bad sectors

Coolers - Try to get Zalman Coolers (not sure if we can get it in Chennai)

DVD Writer - Sony
