Laptop Fan Problem ????

I has fan in the bottom
and the fan is not running

I Lap on and works fine but start heating after few minutes and shutdown automatically within 10 minutes

he (my friend) show it to some engineers some said its fan is damadge and it will cost 7500 some said it will cost 3500

when i asked my dealer he said fan is for approx rs. 300/-

so can someone guess wht these engineers are saying ???

what will they put for 3500 ?

also without opening how can i find whts wrong
any guess please ?

I am having a somewhat similar problem . I have got a Compaq Presario 2200 (bought in 2004) Pentim M 1.5Ghz,which is otherwise working fine but since last week the fan has started producing loud noise as compared to earlier.

I suspect that either fan has worn itself out or it needs some cleaning.

Any idea how to go about it on our own or if someone know's some accomplished technician who has already handled such problems in Bangalore ?

(I love my baby and hate to give it to inexperienced hands )

Please help !
