Question what is mean by 1066 (O.C) ?

I have a pc based on c2d e4400 onboard P5B-MX/WIFI-AP . When i had bought it my vendor had said that this is Intel quad ready but upto 1066 MHz .However later when i saw the specs it said 1066 Mhz(O.C) .Now i want to buy a C2D extreme or C2Q of 1066 MHz fsb ,the vendor is saying that the processor will run fine but you have to overclock it.

What is this overclocking .Will it damage my Pc .If i can't upgrade to quad then what will be the best alternative considering i keep my motherboard ,as i am unable to buy a ne mobo upto december due to budjet constraint.

i suppose only a bios upgrade should do the trick for you..however even a bios upgrade is very risky...

moreover, pls tell us what is ur purpose of upgrading...if its for games then better spend on a graphics card.

No its not!
Now days motherboards come up with BIOS upgrading utilities from windows itself.
U just need to install the program and connect to internet and it will automatically update ur BIOS.

1. which motherboard do you have ?
2. why do you want C2D Extreme ? Its a white elephant. Better go for a C2Q instead.
