naaahhhh...audigy value series is not worth the dough.
Although they carry the audigy name..they are actually not as there is no DSP chip..

M2N e sli has as good onboard audio audigy value..rather save the money..increase it and go for xfi series
.....
.....
.....
.....
But yes...for 2k range audigy 2 value is the best possible choice !

get ur facts right

"audigy 2 value" has hardware DSP EMU10kx,it is fully hardware accelerated for DirectSound and EAX 4.....but sad its no more available

it is "audigy value" that dosent have hardware DSP,it has software based EAX....it is available for about 1.3k in delhi

even without having hardware DSP audigy value is miles ahead of onboard realtek ALC 5,6,7,8,9as onboard solutions have crappy implementation + crappy drivers

and as for XIFI never get XIFI xtreme AUDIO,it is a POS, as its without hardware DSP, it has just got xifi drivers for games

my m2n-e sli has c-media cm5601 usb audio. which is not even HD.
and over that, if i install the drivers for that, it works...well.... but as soon as i install anything like divx or aac filter or other filters,,, the system directly crashes.....BSOD..... i even installed the latest drivers,,,,, and they r more worst...
the drivers that came with the board, at least let me hear music and on video the system crashed, but the latest 1ce,,, even crashes on audio playback.....

fed up of it, previously i was using soundblaster live. with my 4.1 speakers....
now i sold out my live soundcard after i bought this mobo....
but now my mobo is giving me a lot of trouble...so need a goundcard...4 my speakers,,,,4.1.
something better then soundblaster live...
i m a lot into listening good quality music and viewing movies....

thanx

angel.

p.s. rt now i m using windows default drivers, and i m getting only 2 speakers working,,,,,thou i selected quadro speakers in the setting... how can i let all my speakers 2 work......if thats possible, then i wont have 2 buy a soundcard....

with that budget i think only audigy value 7.1 is what u can get

^^ audigy value is definitely better than most onboard solutions. As IME as for sound not only hardware but software & drivers also does have equal role

people who have realtek ALC880 codec may have noticed that sound quality is different in xp & vista, only reason being drivers & software!!

now if u are somewhat serious for music & can live with xp for some more time then seriously consider M AUDIO REVOLUTION 5.1.Its currently available for 58$ at newegg & locally for 4-5k with aditya infotech being grossly overpriced. For pure music over analog it outperforms most entry level xifi's.

M audio revoultion 5.1 has pro quality AKM 4358 DAC .The same DAC is there in professional cards like julia & audiophile 192.M audio revoultion 5.1 is better than revolution 7.1 version.

but it has cons.till now there is only beta driver for vista & they too are horrible. So if u can go on with xp then only consider it ..

cheers
