Never faced any issues with Asus mobos. I am having a high end asus mobo while my friend has a low end mobo from Asus. No issues with his mobo either. However, the boot times a little higher on Asus mobos. e.g after a fresh win xp installation, the boot screen slider moves ten times on asus mobos, which is quite more. But even after using the installation for long, the boot time remains the same.

JUST WANNA SHARE MY PROBLEM
i used to own asus p5n32-sli deluxe mobo.it gave me severe problem like it never used to boot up.i had to return it.it got replaced.then once again there was some problem with processor pins.again returned and got replaced.this time there was some problem with ic of the motherboard not sure whats that.
this went on for 3 months.me shouting on my dealer and dealer shouting with his supplier(rashi) and supplier shouting at distributor.finally one fine day,i got a call from my dealer that my mobo was going to be changed he gave me 2 option 1.asus p5n32-deluxe se(second edition) 2.asus p5n32-e sli.but for the second option he told me i had to cash out extra 4500.then i got 2 option.no worries now.

i've always used an Asus mobo and XFX also now.the only problem faced was with P5N-E-SLi which i got replaced and sold it.i think Asus/MSI/Abit boards are far more better and reliable than any other company.

from what I have heard, if you run AMD, ASUS M2A-VM and M2N-VM are supposed to be the two most recomended motherboards. I am not sure how valid it is now, so Choto Cheeta please confirm.

^^^Yeah u are right bro! M2A-VM and M2N-VM are highly appreciated boards in low end.
But if ASUS poses problem then we have several alternatives.
MSI, A-Bit, Gigabyte, Jetway etc.

Asus have one of the most reliable mobo I have used till date. Be it low-end or high-end you get your moneys worth. As for booting problem...a simple BIOS update could solve it....in most cases.

ASUS has actually got in good products at the low-end both on the Intel and the AMD platform with perhaps very small profit margins for the dealers, hence they might be hesitant to sell them as it eats up in to their profits when compared to say what an original Intel Mobo might offer.

Thank u for showing faith in Digitians.
The config. u choose is a mid-high range config. and it is perfect for a 45K budget.
Here is a suggestion:
-Q6600 with Thermalright Ultra 120 A/Extreme.
-Abit X38 Quad GT or EVGA 750i FTW or equivalent 750i (P5N32-E SLI is a older one).
- Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4 (2X1GB 800 Dual Channel)
- 9600GT.
- Seagate 320GB.
- Cooler Master Elite 330 or Zeb Antibiotics/Bijli (good ventilated cabinet) Always try to look for best ventilated cabinets with bigger in size and shouls have additional 2-3 fans or u can add them later.
- Cooler Master 600W.
And rest of the basic things.

^^Dont u think 9600GT will be a little compared to other components. You are better off with a 8800GTS 512MB or 8800GT 512MB.

I never used an ASUS board and my friend never used anything other than ASUS. both of us never faced any problem. Reason: Regular updates to mobo BIOS and drivers. ASUS is one of the best in PC peripheral manufacturers.

Asus is definitely the best. But with lower budgets, Abit, Biostar etc are unresistable.

most ppl counting on Asus here (including me) either have a high end board or a budget (<5k) board..for both of these asus provides excellent service..not talking abt performance here..but for med end boards Asus does have a flaw in almost every board. P5N-D , early models of P5N-E SLi , P5K-C , to name a few..one AMD board too,i dont rememer..things are always corrected in coming updates but once u need a replacemet Rashi provides one of the worst customer service for Asus.at least in north region.
