Angry dvd writer read problem... help!


frm few days ny sony dvd writer has become very slow in reading dvds. i just dont understand wht happened. when i play any song while copying from a dvd... the song runs very slow. also the data too gets copied at a very slow rate. can u guyz help?

is ur model dru 820 somehing like that then it is normal bcoz these models did hav problems

actually it is an oem edition.... dw-q28a... n it worked quite well til now..

Check the dma as said above.

Or you may run this vbs script.

before using the vbs goto device manager and check for the primary and secondary rives in ATAPI controllers...
check in teh advanced setting if transfer mode in PIO or DMA..

if its PIO then make it DMA and restart ,..

check again .. it might have rechanged to PIO .. if it isnt then good otherwise run that vbs ..

if it still doesnt help then there is a tutorial in tutorial section ...

look for that ..

if u have eliminated the UDMA issue and problem stil exits then check out this thread

also 16x being the maximum ur writer can write at, better not to burn it at that speed. chances of failure increases manifold

8x is fine, tho 4x if feel is even better 4 ur writer [shud take around 15 mins 2 burn 4.5 GB]
