Mother Board Suggestion Required

Hi,

I wanted to buy a Intel Based Mother Board. My Primary requirement is not gaming, infact i dont play games at all. But i want to run Vista with Aero. Prefer to have Intel Original Motherboard with support for both Intel Pentium and Dual Core Processors as i want to use my existing P4 chip for some more months till i shift to Dual Core.
So please suggest some good mother board models for the same.

Also, how to identify the processors the motherboard supports?

no budget,no config nothing.anyways you can opt for intel based biostar motherboard or asrock motherboards.these motherboards have some good built in graphic and cheap too.

You should actually go for the xfx 630i ultra. But if you want an intel orig only go for the dg33fb/bu.

however i do suggest u go with an Asus board but still finally its ur wish.
but ofcourse the best chipset would be the G33.

Same here I mean not always Vista ratings are to go by with as XFX 8400 GS DDR-II 256 MB is rated lower than your onboard GMA x3000 but its any ones guess that 8400 certainly will drive any game better than x3000

In real word i see 7150 is better than x3000 any day

Sorry for not giving the configuration. I am presently using Mercury 845GL Motherboard, p4 1.7Ghz, 256 MB RAM. I am planning to upgrade the RAM to 2 GB, So looking for a board that supports DDR2 RAM and both P4 and P4 Core 2 Duo Processor(which i can do probably later). Budget is around 5000.

I think i can go for dg33fb/bu, whats teh diff between the two? Is graphics card necessary to run Windows Vista Home Premium if i buy this board?

Your proccy won't run on any of the current boards.It's a socket-478 one whereas contemporary processors(Intel) are LGA775.
So you'll have to buy a new processor as well.

Its better be 775 socket unless he's gotta need a need processor!

And INTEL will launch Socket 1366 (High End) socket by the end of year and 1160(mainstream) nehalem by next year!

Guys need not to worry! This will take time to implement for lets say 2 years!
