Thanks all of u. I just want to inform that ABIT IP35-E is not avialable here in the northern region. So i will have to buy it from www.theitwares.com I want to ask that as the xfx card has a overheating problem so which card will be best? In chandigarh only xfx and asus are available. But asus is very expensive. So which one should i buy?

Thumbs up Re: Pc upgrade

@zeest

If u r getting things from It wares, then buy a Point of View 8600GT too from them. Otherwise go for XFX itself........since u r a casual gamer and not going to fiddle with it too much I mean OC and stuffs like dat........

^^ my xfx 8600GT udf7 without OC goes upto 107C on running ati tool for 15 mins. nfs carbon takes it upto 88C and so does POP . i dont think thats "serious gaming".

I am not a casual gamer. I am a serious gamer. But i don't have money to buy high end cards. I made my fx 5200 cry when i stretched it to 430Mhz as compared to 333 stock. So i will definitely overclock the card. But the POV 8600GT fared badly in digit reviews so i am in a dilemma right now. What to do? Which card to buy?

Thanks to all of u for ur help.
So final decision is
Abit P35-E
2GB DDR2 800Mhz RAM
8600GT Galaxy or POV (based on availability)

One more thing is that a person is selling 7800GTX in this forum for 6k. The card is 1.5 yrs old. Should i get it? Will it work on a 400W PSU?

yes a 7800GTX will perform better. but if its Go 7800GTX , then i vote for 8600GT .

the card is 1.5yr old.hmmm . test the card. .check the temps , verify that its not artifacting. besides that , do u know / trust the seller or does he have a good reputation.

i feel most g-cards are manufactured keeping in mind that they will be used for 3 to 3.5 years . after that the cards die or start behaving erratically. so if its been used for 1.5 yrs , it has about 2 years life left. is it enough ?

oh yeah , the psu i dont think will be enough . a zebronics 500W may suffice .but the 7800GTX was a high end and its better to get a better power supply like cooler master 600W

if this is the card

http://www.xfxforce.com/web/product/...roductId=85744

then i think its a pretty good buy. . .i dunno this guy either . anyway , check temps and for artifacts b4 buying . but i think u'll need a better psu to run that card. i think a cooler master 600W costing around 3.5k maybe needed.
i dont think a local 450W psu can power this card. ask the guy from whom u r buying wat smps he's using.

And the 7800GTX 512 MB is much better than normal 7800GTX. It even beats 7900GT 256 hands down.
And if u havent done some serious overclocking nd continue using them in oced nd overheated[still stable] state for long, then it cud easily last uch more than 3~3.5 yrs.

i vouch for harvik . just find out the running temps for those cards. u can trust wat he says . i think they r in safe limits..i recall pming harvik abt that .

if peak is below 80C , u got urself a gr8 deal . .buy it b4 it gets sold out.

Smile Re: Pc upgrade

This is what he says
Quote:
Please do bare in mind that i have adequate cooling in my system.A total of 4 80mm fans. Two fans, one for each video card, one for exhaust and one for North Bridge cooling.
The temps recorded with an overclock of 675mhz core/1566Mhz shader/860Mhz memory at idle were 43C for one,47C for the other and 72C Max for one,77C Max for the other at 100% load with 3DMark06(Varies for both cards). The onboard fan on these cards always runs at 100% as designed by XFX.
I am currently located in Patna,Bihar. Will ship to anywhere in India.Shipment will be done after we discuss the available options(courier services)which are satisfactory for both of us.
Yes i have the bill and i'll provide a scanned copy of the bill with the card. Can't give the original bill because it also has mention of other products i bought.
Payment method should be done via Demand Draft.
But i have a simple system. I don't have as much cooling as Harvik. SO i think the temps can go upto 100C in my PC. What do u think?

But harvik has gr8 cooling in his system. I just bought an "esys" branded pc and it doesn't have any extra cooling. So?
