I was considering an
Asus M2A-VM mobo
Athlon X2 4000+
2 GB DDR2 RAM
Anything better in the same price range?
I'd prefer a mobo with an ATI chipset. I already have a graphics card so onboard graphics are not necessary.

@drvarunmehta
MSI K9A GM3 has almost same features as M2A VM[3.3], nd is 500 bucks cheap @ 2.8k.
U can get 4400+ for another 800 bucks.
MSI K9A GM2 is even cheaper @ 2.3k, but has only 2 mem slot. But has 690G chipset with X1250. So with that u can get even more better proccy like 4800+ or go for 800Mhz DDR2 instead of 667 Mhz one.

Budget is upto 6000 bucks for the mobo+proccy. However it must have 4 slots for the RAM.

Not considering the price difference, which is better between the Asus M2A-VM and the MSI K9A GM3?

Can I get an ATX board like the Asus M2N-E instead of a micro ATX board if I increase the budget a bit or are the ATX boards too expensive?

@drvarunmehta
M2N E is bit more expensive nd is 4.5k+. There is not much performance difference across boards [like on intel]. K9A GM3 has gr8 vfm.
For 6k, u ca get 4400+ and K9A GM3
