Default New Rig. Budget: 50k

Hey guys! Im buying a new rig for myself. So i needed some suggestions from you guys. This is what i have in mind so far:

CPU: Intel C2Q 6600 (how much more is the 6700?)
Mobo: Im confused on this one. Should i go for Intel's P35 chipset or Nvidia's 680 Chipset? Also which brand is good?
RAM: DDR2 800 MHz 2GB
GFX Card: 8600 GT 256MB DDR3 (how much more are the 8800's?)
HDD: 500GB
DVD Writer: Lite-ON
SMPS: Cooler Master 650W
LCD: 19" Viewsonic/Samsung/LG
UPS: APC
K/B, Mouse: The usual..
Cabinet: Im open to suggestions

So i'd really appreciate if you guys can comment on this config. I'd also appreciate if you guys can give some approximate prices.

Thanks

go for this site and you will have the prices of all the computer parts in Indian market. But must look that these prices are not actual but round about you can approximate your price after going though it.

c2q is 10,700 at SMC.

Go for x38 based mobos(forget p35 and 680)

8800gt's are ~14-16k,8600gt's are ~5-6k

HDD's---get 2x250gbs instead of 1x500gb for obvious reasons.

DVD-writer--get the sata ones(not ide)

From the looks of it, you dont intend to spend time gaming, but if you do, you must consider a better gfx.

^^ Thanks! Is the board stable enough? Im not very sure of Abit. MSI/ASUS would have been more comfortable! So is Abit comparable to ASUS/MSI?

u can have asus p5n32 sli.. its a very good board...u can read in articles abt it .. havent tried myself...and dont abt its features.. but i have seen ppl being excited to buy it ..

and as for ur dvd rom .. u shudnt go for lite on ..
there is a thread in hardware troubleshoot where almost everyone has complained abt the noise it is making ...
read it before u go out .. some of them had to re buy some other drive..
better option will be sony AD7190-A.. shud give it a look

^^Abit IX38 Quad GT should cost around 11k-12k.

Anyways as far as company goes abit equals asus\msi if not better.abit p35 based mobo won the best budget award last year iirc. But since x38 chipset is pretty new and only a few mobos have come out so you better check out some reviews.

Hmm.. Thanks! Ok now one more thing.. Are there any specific models/revisions/brands etc i need to look out for? Like i've been told to get a G0 revision Q6600.. And i also heard there are some problems with some revisions of the Nvidia 8600GT.

yep, get the G0 stepping q6600.b3 stepping q6600 runs hotter(about 10c!!) than G0stepping one.this is a makesure point before you buy.
The G0 stepping Quads Product Id's end in SLACR and the B3 ones end in SL9UM.

One Advice kalpik, get 8800gt instead of 8600gt if budget permits.8800gt is more value for money.

Yea xfx 8600gt's(one which ends udf7) have severe heating problems.Better stay away from xfx 8600gt's.
