Default USB Issues, please help!

Well I have a pre-built tower that has been working prefectly fine for me until last month I started to realize I am having issues with the USB. I noticed my IPod was not syncing and I could not upload pictures from my Digi Cam. At first I thought my IPod was faulty so I went to Apple checked it, but there was nothing wrong. So I go to my device manager and for some certain reason, my USB had the exclamation mark. I had no idea why it was like that. So through trial and error I finally get my USB uploaded again via the Windows Service Pack 2 and I check the Device Manager the the USB is said to be installed and working correctly. Well I try plugging both my IPod and Digi Cam...same result. My Ipod charges but it won't sync and my Digi Cam won't upload. Right now i'm clueless. Its not the IPod or the Digi Cam but yet my USB is said to be installed correctly. Anyone have any ideas? I'm running on a Winfast 6100M2MA motherboard. Any thoughts is gratefully appreciated. If I have not explained enough, let me know.

I'm not using a HUB.

I have tried all 4 ports. The 2 at the front and the 2 at the back and still the same result. So i'm still a little bewildered

can be a h/w problem....if u are dual booting with another os try ur ipod in that.
An easier way is to install another xp in a different partition and connect ur ipod...if the same problem shows again then u will need to service ur motherboard.
