Problem with HP Pavilion DVD-Writer

HI ALL,

i have an hp pavilion dv2119tx laptop which i bought last year december, with a sony dvd-writer in it....i have written or played very less no. of discs, and it was working fine, but suddenly, after a couple of windows updates, the writer has started behaving weirdly....if i put in a blank disc (dvd-r or cd-r),or even a written dvd-r or cd-r, it takes around 15-20 minutes just to recognise it, otherwise it keeps reading it...but this does not happens with any retail disc such as a retail dvd movie or retail game disc...can someone help... scaneed and no viruses found...

Uninstall the device n then reinstall it........ if this doesnt sort out the problem then try booting via linux live cd n see if it gives the same problem...
1. It gives same problem: then problem is wid ur writer....... call ur Hp support ppl
2. Works fine on Linux: reinstall windows........ everything wil be fine
