connect ur modem to hub, now connect ur pc & friends pc to hub using lan cable.
If u dont want the connection to be shared set start ip and end ip same in DHCP settings in ur modem. This ip shud be assigned to ur pc.

See if your bsnl router has a section for adding the hardware address of your lan card. If enabled it acts as a white list and allows access only from that hardware (LAN card) address. I forget what it is called

Now I remember, its called MAC address

ok then it will work , connect ur xbox to the hub,and also ur pc and friends pc to hub as said earlier, all the the three(pc1,pc2 & xbox) can connect to net simultaneously.
In modem DHCP settings ,set the start ip as 192.168.1.3 and end ip as 192.168.1.4 , and assign these two ip's to ur pc & xbox and give ip 192.168.1.5 to ur frind(he will not be able to use the net,but both of u can share files each other). If possible use a switch instead of hub for faster file transfer(intex switch cost Rs750/-)
