GeForce 8600GT will it work on xp system with directx 9 to the fullest

no,it gives decent performace on xp too with all games playable at highest setting except some kiler ones like crysis.
if ur budget is arnd 5-6k then get a xfx 8600 GT

yeah playable (35-37) FPS on 1024*768 wit hall settings to med and no AA.

I run XP SP2. 8600 GT works perfectly fine. It runs DirectX 9.0c Games without any probs. Also It is able to run all DX 10 games.

It runs fine on Vista also with all the eyecandyAero turned on. Go ahead no probs.

first theres nothing like 8600 GS.
there is 8600 GT and 8600 GTS(a bit more costlier than GT)
and yes mann 8600 GT works very well with dx9.i myself am using 8600GT.
and XFX,ASUS,zebronics,BIG are the gpu manufacturers and distributors.

ok do as i say.
fill ur pockets with something like 7k.
go to any good comp hardware market.
ask the retailer to give u xfx 8600 GT 256MB.
give the money get the bill come home.install the card.if u get any problems in installing then refer to the manual provided or call a hardware guy.he ll do the work for u.
then switch ur comp on install the drivers provided on the cd and u r ready for gaming.
NOTE:first check if ur mobo is pci-e or AGP compatible.this is very important.
i think u wont have any probs now.

I think you might have understood what GeForce is by now. So, XFX is the name of the company like Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, etc. You might have heard about these companies, which mainly manufacture motherboards for Intel and AMD. In the same way, XFX manufactures graphics cards with nVidia chipsets on it. Got it?

nvidia dun make cards by themselves.....even if they make, then they are only reference cards like those used for testing,benchmarkin nd given out for reviewers.

Here in India the best Graphics card makers are XFX, ASUS, MSI etc.
There are versions of 8600GT which come close to 8k. They are company overclocked nd has many features like gud copper heatsink or fanless design or factory overclocking etc.

If u sure that u not gonna use vista, then u can get far better performing cards at a lil more cost.
U can consider cards with GPU 7900GS for some 8~8.5k from nvidia nd u can look for brands like XFX, ASUS, MSI etc.
Or a better card id ATI 1950 pro for some 9k. They are best performers among DX 9.0 cards.
U can use these cards even in vista and enjoy all games but with only DX 9.0 eye candies even if u use vista..

Nividia GeForce 8600 GT is just a Chipset wich is a part of a Graphics card
basically Graphics card manufactures take Graphic chipsets and add other components like heatsink and make an over all graphics unit.
and sell them .
T_T now i realised eeet.

Buy an XFX 8600GT ONLY if you have PCI-E slot, else you can go for any high end card for AGP slot. Simple as that. Why are you getting so confused even after so much of explaination?

@sanja-here in Delhi at nehre place we can get XFX 8600 GT 256 MB for 6k or arnd.
the price differs with respect to ur location as well but it must not be more than 7 k anywhere.

there are 3 versions of 8600 chipsets
GT GS GTS

these chipsets are used by the chip making companies as u told
xfx has favoured the use of GT type .
with its brands of xfx 8600GT
and its own upgraded version GTX.

Digit wrote in its review that it is as good as a 8600GT.

the card im using is Asus 8500GT256M EN SILENT.
the term silent means that its a fanless design.
not meant for overclocking but performance wise very good.
