Plzzz help needed urgently to upgrade

Hi..............Everyone

My system configuration is :

Intel P4, 2.0GHz processor,
256 MB DDR RAM (266 MHZ),
40 GB HARD DISK (7200 RPM),
GIGABYTE 845 GV MOTHERBOARD,
DVD ROM,

I want to upgrade my system......Can anyone suggest me what all components can be upgraded and supported.....And any changes would u like to share with me will be great helpful to me tp upgrade my system

Man only your hdd and dvd rom will be usable.You'll have to change all the rest.What's your budget like?

For me the budget is around 10-12 k

change MOB..and processor ...and RAM

Intel C2D E4500-->> Rs. 5100/-
1 GB RAM-->> kinston, transend Rs 1000/-
motherborad-->>> Asrock intel 945 based..Rs. 2600/-

And the HDD is only 40GB and it's only a DVD ROM (not DVD writer) so doesnt help much in retaining those.

@smile, selling off ur system as a whole and getting a new one might make better sense (instead of trying to sell off components, which will be difficult).

BTW ur proccy and mobo are not very bad. Why r u looking to upgrade? If it is to play latest games and stuff, it's fine, else if it's for normal home use, u might be better off getting a 512MB DDR RAM stick.

Thanks for all those replies ... I would just change my HDD & Ram........Can anyone tell me as am having 845 gv gigabyte motherboard is the board supports latest processor ..is there any way or i need to change the whole board

I suggest AMD X2 4400+,Asus M2A-VM HDMI m/b(X1250 IGP,far better than Intel 945),1GB Transcend DDR2 RAM.Buy a 250 or 160GB HDD too,40GB is tad too low!!

Dude, churn out some cash and buy 2 GB RAM. Trust me u will not regret buying it!
