5.1 Home Theatre - Budget=20k
Suggest me HT under 20k.
i went to Sony World(b'lore) & sat thru a demo of DAZ 555k model HT (not sure about model no. ), was a good experience, the sound clarity is amazing so was the picture quality.
features wanted-
HDMI output.
good power output.
Tower Speakers.
i've LG 42" LCD TV, (42LC2RR) which has Time-Shift (onboard 80GB HDD).
suggest a HT which can take advantage of this TV.
btw are Philips HT good? i thought they were cheaper.
@ "e-zone" Philips was available upward 40k only .

Re: 5.1 Home Theatre - Budget=20k
how was the bass? always check the subwoofer unit "RMS".I heard that Sony's HT's have weak bass until the price goes very high! I have a DAV DZ100 which has stereo input so its just tooooo bad cause I can't connect my PS3! So please check the inputs and outputs! btw i checked sony india site and the rating is 850w rms and 140 for system and sub-woofer resp. i think it will perform better but please make sure the bass is good or your experince will be incomplete! Hope it helps!

Re: 5.1 Home Theatre - Budget=20k
ya, bass was in "ok" range.
tat demo guy put a song "Eagles - Hotel California" (no-bass), & a small clip (dog fight - fighter jet).( bass effect was ok)
it was ok, but not as good as wat a Akai HT offered back in 1997. if same clip was put on Akai, man our body wud shake coz of the all-round Bass output.
any other brands to look for?

Re: 5.1 Home Theatre - Budget=20k
Try to go in for an Onkyo HT system. They have really good bass levels & the surround effect is awesome provided the speakers are positioned correctly. The one I had seen during the demo was HTS 670 if my memory serves me correctly. It stood at hefty 54k around 2 years back. Not sure if any new model has come out or not but the sound is awesome believe me it left my Bose experience pale.

Re: 5.1 Home Theatre - Budget=20k
^i already bought Sony (check post #8)
my views, so far...
BASS cant be tuned
Tata Sky + HT = average experience.
DVD movie on HT (connected wit HDMI cable) is AWESOME .
saw Top Gun, OMG what a experience.
the sony personnel who installed the HT was a noob , he took 4+ hours to configure this & know what? he has mis-aligned the speakers & has installed the rear speakers on wall with the WIres hanging down
noob took a coupon too (free service coupon)
-=-=-==-
which Hollywood movie (latest release) is worth to be bought.
is "I am LEGEND" good?

Re: 5.1 Home Theatre - Budget=20k
^^let me add to that
Transporter 2, Transformers (must watch), MI:2, Troy....
btw i have sony DZ120k. and have noticed one flaw in all sony products, the bass is always high and it cant be turned down. on my HT, i never have to turn on the bass while watching the movie, cos when i do, the bass becomes so high that we cant hear anything else.

Re: 5.1 Home Theatre - Budget=20k
to each his own...there must be some reason why all the three movies got a rating of 90+ in RT, not to mention the tons of oscars they won

I AM LEGEND must be good! I haven't seen it btw.
And u can tune the amplification by pressing meny key then select setup then custom setup then go there and adjust speaker levels! But know that the bass will not be good above 2-3+ dB! Atleast on my DZ100!
