Default Blue Screen of Death-Very urgent

Guys,

This is really urgent for me. Yesterday when I was working on my pc suddenly it hanged and I didn't have any resort than to restart it by pressing reset. And on restart a blue screen of death started coming every time I started my pc. I am on windows xp and all was working fine till yesterday.

Then I tried to boot in safe mode and again when I select safe mode and press enter the system is restarting again.

Then I tried to reinstall the os by booting from cd and again at the time when the harddrive is detected for all exisitng partitions is shown the blue screen of death. It is happening every time and I am not even able to reinstall.

If I select the repair option while installing then on the press of 'R' to repair the system shows blue screen.

I have checked my ram and it is working fine on my friend' pc. I am totally astonished by this. I have built my own pc and haven't faced such problem before.

I strongly suspect that my harddisk is gone which is seagate sata 250gb. But there are no abnormal sounds from the system speaker. Harddrive is getting recognized at the start.

I am totally foxed and don't know how to proceed. Pls help guys.

Thanks and Regards,
Amit.

can you tell your config and somthing from the BSOD? like the error msg or sumthing?

try reinstalling after removing any nonessential hardware, like soundcards, gfx cards, additional RAM, HDD, all USB connectors, LAN card etc.

also, check if your Processor is overheating.

My config is Dual Core E2140, 1GB DDR2, motherboard with 945GZ chipset. Soundcard, gfx, lan are in built. Harddrive is Seagate sata2 250 GB internal.

The error message says that " Ths system would be halted for saving it from damaging the syste" or something like that. At the top a filename is displayed as "ntfs.sys" and then this message, and of course some hexadecimal characters.

Can somebody help me further?

Regards,
Amit.
