Default iPod Woes

I am not able to charge my iPod Nano. I connected it to my USB port, and it shows charging. In some time, it shows me that it is charged. When I remove the cable, it gets turned off and I am not able to turn it on again until i connect it to the computer, and it starts charging again. rest everything works fine. i still have not found a solution for it. is it a battery problem?
pls help
thnx

1. how long since u purchased it (if more than 2 yrs then battery problem possible)

2. if under warranty then get it replaced (even if from gray market u can still register online and get it replaced)

3. http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
