Tv Tuner Card Problem!!!

hey guys plz help me...

i brought my frnds TV tuner card...
but problem is...it is not detected by computer....
by adding new hardware didnt work out....
installing driver says (code 10) device cannot start...

upgrading drivers says device not found....
device is properly working at my frnds place...

plz help me out...

What TV Tuner on what system? Another question is what is different from your friends computer and yours?

You need to post much more information for anyone to help you out.

my system:
Motherboard Intel 845GVSR
Intel Pentium 4 ,2.00 ghz,256 MB RAM
Win XP SP2

TV Tuner card:
Tyhphoon Easy TV MPEG PCI PHILIPS 7130TV CAPTURE CARD

problem is system not able to detect card....

and my frnds config
ASUS motherboard
and 512 mb ram
intel pentium 4 processor.

When you look under Device Manager does it show you an Icon of a yellow question mark with something saying " Multimedia controller" on it?

You will most likely have to install it through there. TechCom had the same problem and thats how I installed mines.

thats wat problem is....no such icon is shown by device manager....it just not detecting the device...i feel like my slots are useless...

Yup that happens a lot with me also....
The only solution I have found till now .. is to remove the card from the PCI slot and insert it back again .....and again ... till the damn thing gets detected.

It freaking works that way only...on my pc.

PS: while removing the card .. DO TURN OFF THE PC

No man ... It happens to me all the time.That why its a pain for me when I remove the card from the system....coz it takes a lot of tries to get detected back again.The reason might be its not getting properly seated into the PCI slot.So after some tries ...sometimes even the first try it seats perfectly and gets detected.
Sometimes when the card doesnt seat properly ... the device manger instead of asking for that cards drivers asks for some weird drivers and later tells that the card is not installed properly.

But usually it gets done after a few tries.

Just try it and check for urself....

PS:Again I would like to say ... DO TURN OFF THE PC WHILE REMOVING/INSERTING THE CARD.that is ... dont mess with the system when its ON.

Most probably ur PCI slot has gone kaput.
Try inserting it in another PCI slot..also remember not to insert the tuner in the pci slot thet is close to the AGP slot.As TV tuners are always given same IRQ values as an external AGP Card it might cause problem.

after reinserting like wat indian_samosa said and not to insert slot near to AGP slot iguess worked for me and now tuner working fine...thnx

Guys..as this Section is going on with TV Tuner card..I would like to know few things about it.

I came to hear many things about TV Tuner card as like if we happen to insert or install tv tuner card then, the system breaks down or its performance goes down. Is it true?

If I happen to go for a TV tuner card which brand would be the best and cheap and also safe for my PC? I have a P4, Intel Inside 3.06 Processor, 1GB RAM and NAVIDA GeForce 5200 256MB.

I would also love to know about the rates of those cards.
