Use External USB Hard drives, as that will be more productive that Larger Internal drives

I already did, buy a Notebook like Dell 1520 which will have 160 GB HDD as u are concirn about larger HDD so i suggestedthink of External portable HDDs... as they will offer better productvity than larger Internal inbuilt drives...

Dell 1520 seems a cool option, but as u are buying from USA, do give MACBook a shot... Apple Hadware is damn cheaaap there...

With student Consession MACBook Pro 15" may come under USD 1200 ... Any Intel MAC will run the new OS without any issue, but I suppose 512 MB RAM would be needed, in case of a New MACBook Pro, u will have 2 GB or RAM, so it will run Leopar with ease...

Now if you dont have Student consesion option, then 13" MACBook will come under that budget !!! it will have 1 GB RAM more than enough to run Leopard...

Both MAC will support bootcamp, which will allow you to run Windows Vista with Leopard in Dual Boot

the New MACBook 13" will have GMA x3100 which i DirectX 10 copmatible with full Vista Aero support

The New MACBook Pro 15" will have dedicated 8600 GT 128MB Card which is also Fully Vista compatible with DX 10
