Smile Wide Screen Resolution Problems

I'm having "Asus A8V MX" Motherboard.
Recently i bought "Viewsonic VA1912wb" which supports a max resolution of "1440 X 900".
But even after installing the drivers given in the CD(came with the monitor), my comp is not able to display in such a resolution.
In the settings of the comp, it shows a max of "1280 X 800".
I really have no idea what to do now.
Please suggest me a solution.

So, will installing a basic graphics card solve the problem?
If so please recommend some Basic graphics card.

^^ XFX 8400 GS will be a good choice .. it will support the resolution you have asked for.
