I dunno much about sound cards but you must have very good sound output devices(speakers and home theatre) for taking full advantage of a dedicated high end sound card.

if u are using anything less than a 5.1 speaker setup, a dedicated sound card wont make a difference - unless u have a real crappy onboard chip.
A good value for money soundcard would be the creative audigy value .retails for less than 2k.
but do bear in mind that for good sound = good speakers + good soundcard.

if you want soundcards with dedicated proccessors and hardware sampling - look for the creative's xfi lineup - but they dont come cheap

unless u r a true audiophile with very high quality audio output devices, the soundcard isn't really reqd

Harish. My suggestion is to go for Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio soundcard. This one has DTS and Dolby decoder. in newegg, I found this one for $65.

On any day, Audigy is better than Live! soundcard.
