Default What kind of devices can a USB Hub be safely used with?

I have 3 USB ports on my laptop and are just not enough for the other gadgets that i have, so i got a i-ball USB 2.0 4-port HUB.

Some of my gadgets include stuff like
Pen Drive
MP3 player
USB to PS2 adaptor
which i presume can be safelly used.

I also have an All-in-one Printer that connects through USB. Is it safe to connect this or similar 'heavy' devices to the USB HUB??

Also for devices that take their power from the USB port, does the HUB have some kind of a power rating??

Smaller brands like Quantum,Enter etc have 4-port hubs for 50 bucks.
I think it's possible to daisy chain hubs, but connecting too many devices at once may not work due to lack of requisite power.
