DVD-RW not reading/writing any disc

Hi All,

I am new to Digit forums. I recently bought a SONY DVD-RW AW-G170A, it was working fine until the other day it sudenly stopped reading/writing any disc CDs and DVDs eventhough it is recognised by windows. I have Power DVD and Nero installed for movies and burning respectively.

My system specs is:

AMD ATHLON XP 2000+ on ASROCK K7VM2 motherboard
512 MB RAM
80 GB Western Digital HD
SONY DVD-RW AW-G170A
OS: Windows XP SP2

I have lost half of my hair trying to fix it. Any help therefore would be greatly appreciated.

not possible coz i bought it from kolkata and I stay in shillong.

Try cleaning the lens with a lens cleaner cd.If it doesn't work try contacting the dealer in Kolkata from whom you bought it and arrange to send it through courier if he's willing(if it's under warranty).

if its under warranty get it replaced anyhow now!!
u can use a lens cleaner but they seldom work. say goodbye to ur writer
