New sata liteon drive not working....please help

hi bought a new sata liteon lh20a1s dvd writer ......i connected the sata data cable to the first sata port and the power cable also ...my problem is that after starting the computer it correctly opening and closing which means i think power cable is correctly connected
but when i try to read to some cd or dvd it is not reading any thing...i dont know where i m missing some thing but it is a new one please help...

Try a firmware update.Which company CD/DVDs did you use.??If it was some cheap DVD,then it can be a cause of problem.

ur writer may cuz prob u hav set SATA to AHCI mode in BIOS.

i searched in the bios but there is no option for setting sata to AHC1....please if u could tell me in a more detailed way what i have to do it would be nice
