Best data recovery software?

My cousin's 40GB portable hard disk's boot sector is corrupted. He has some important files that need to be recovered. I scanned the HD with Getdataback but it wasn't able to recover any data. I tried PC Inspector too.Tell me some good recovery softwares please that works.
