Check SMPS and USP battery. Also check how much backup time you are getting from the UPS. I had a local USP with me which had the same problem. Battery was the cuplrit. Now I switched to APC and now problem till now

Ravi, every UPS comes with a Basic onboard Voltage stabilizer... unless you are haiving low voltage for all the time, there is no need for a expernal Stabilizer...

APC 500 VA is Rs. 2100/- + TAX, try and buy that to replace ur 3 yrl old one

this should solve the issue... but as I said, before investing, you may bring a frnds UPS to test

Ravi , have you got manual stablizer or an automatic one. Most probably weak battery is a cause.
Me currently facing same problem , but my UPS is in last month of two year warrenty. To check the UPS I carried it to a friends home. The results will come tommorow. When last month I carried it to service center they said it to be okay. But still I faced same problem at home.

@ choto
When I bought my UPS two year ago it used to give me 45 min backup. In due course I added a 512 MB Ram. Now I hardly get 10 min backup. Since its a gk that battery in due course will weaken but since ups is in warranty period can I demand to get same backup.

@Ravi,
An automatic stablizer is of no use for UPS.
Hey I have got the same UPS. Fluctuation problem can be removed by unplugging a plug just behind the front switch. Its was done in mine UPS by serviceman. Its very easy, you can try urself.

well the type of Batteries APC / Microteck / other brand uses, if u buy branded like Exide would Cost you around Rs. 600/- MAX... if the UPS is good in other area, just the BACK up is low, yeah its worth to change the bettery... even officially APC them self request you in every 1 year to replace the Battery...

Hey, my UPS is runing fine at my friends home giving 15-20 min backup. Rather than some external problem its inside my PC or moniter. Am I guessing right. Is it possible to measure watteg of a device.

Please use UPS only. i've been told that using BOTH stabilizer and UPS is not good. Try borrowing a new UPS and checking

I gone through whole of this discussion. Now I will say my experience regarging UPS. In Our area Power supply during pick hour is around 140 to 160 Volts. My UPS is orion 500VA double battery. During the pick hour I cannot operate my system, if I start the system my UPS goes frequently in ups mode. Then I test a 1 KW Automatic stabilizer which actually used in Refigerator. With that stabilizer my UPS problem is solved. I think Normal home UPS are not capable to stabalize/increase the volt to 220/230 volt when the input power supply below 180 Volt.

Have you changed your ups battery during this 3 yrs, If not change the battery it will run as new ups.
When u check a old battery which is in running condition. It will show above 12V, But When you put load on the ups after a few minutes it will show the voltage below 8 or 9 volt. Again u relax the ups from load and keep it for few hours and the the battery with volt metre it will again show you 12v.
Plsease note I am not battery expert. It is my experience I explain here.
